Japanese Woodblock Prints

A 3D virtual gallery of Japanese woodblock prints. Ukiyo-e — “pictures of the floating world” — was the popular art of Edo-period Japan: actors and courtesans, landscapes and weather, carved into wood, printed in colour, and sold cheaply on the street.

The prints in this online exhibition come from the Art Institute of Chicago's Open Access collection and are released under CC0. Each label lists the artist, the date, the medium, and links back to the work at the Art Institute.
